Imagine a pair of glasses that when you put on, you simply see an additional color in the world. You’ve never seen this color before. Like going through life not knowing that orange exists. Sure, you’ve heard of people reference orange, even describe it. And there’s a fruit called orange. But as far as you can tell, before the glasses, this fruit was just another shade that blended into all the fruits, into all the things in the kitchen, and frankly into all the things in the world.

And then the glasses were placed on the bridge of your nose. You looked up. Something was different. Richer. More clear. Brighter. And there it is. After all this time. The flare that is orange. It’s brilliant. And now you see it everywhere. Far beyond the fruit. The world is full of orange and now the world seems so much more… open. Open to possibility.

These imaginary glasses are the lenses I’ve worn for the last year and a half after becoming a father.
